Introduction to World Language
Introduction to World Language is a 7th grade elective course, offered for 1 semester on an odd/even rotation schedule. This means that it is really the equivalent of 1 quarter of class time.
Students spend about 10 days each on German, French, Spanish, and Latin (if time allows). Students will learn a few basics of each language (greetings, numbers, days and months), as well as some cultural information.
Four summative exams are given: German Culture, French Culture, Spanish Culture, and a summative test at the end of the semester over the vocabulary from those three languages.
This exploratory class is not meant to provide language proficiency, but rather to introduce the students to each language so they can make a selection for future language courses.
